What is this anyway?

Merry Christmas

Seems a bit strange to be wishing you a Merry Christmas in the midst of an outbreak. I do hope you all can find a moment of peace at this time. If it is any consolation this cold snap has slowed down the zombies a bit. Hopefully it will keep up while we fortify and restock some of the civic buildings. We have had contact with the military and they promised again to send a sat-com connection which will let us provide a more stable connection to this network. If you can make your way to us we could use the help.

Infrastructure Failures

Unfortunately there have been a series of infrastructure failures. Those who were relying on cell towers to access this board will find less and less available connections. Those connections that do still function may allow for local connections but most are not able to access the data grid. Satellite modems and dishes are your best option at this point. Fortunately most medical centers in the LA area have Satellite backup connections which can be accessed through their WIFI networks. Please exercise extreme caution when using these signals as there is a lot of zombie activity in the immediate vicinity to these locations. Also be aware that such services and connections are only available on clear sky days as these buildings still have some solar power capacity and satellite connections are most reliable during such times. Our contacts with the military have promised to provide modems and dishes in a supply drop expected in the next few weeks. We will attempt to leave a message with any details that we might ascertain.

As many of you know the power has not been restored. We are hoping the military will keep us appraised of the situation at the hydro station, but we have not had the resources to investigate ourselves. The location should have been defensible with all the sensitive equipment secured in the operations room. If anyone knows more please let us know on this forum.

Finally I wanted to issue a caution regarding the Auborn Protectorate. Although we are encouraged that citizens are organizing against the current threat, we are concerned that help is not being offered to all. The Protectorate is not authorized by either city. Please exercise discretion.

Lewiston High School

Todd here again. Just a reminder that we are at the high school. Some of our guys managed to rescue the people from Staples and they brought us some gear with power. I've managed to get a satellite connection, so I'll be checking a couple times a day until the power runs out and as long as I can find a signal. Not much else to do. I'm on door watch duty again. Sucks having no power, this room is dark and we are low on candles.

We were up on the roof learning how to shoot. I saw my old history teacher, Mrs. Black. She was undead like the rest of them. I couldn't bring myself to shoot her. Josh on the other hand seemed to relish firing into the crowd of former teachers and students. Something is not quite right with him. I don't think the others notice. The cop, Officer Stan, has been sticking pretty close to us since they armed us. I'm not sure I feel safer with a gun, the friggin' zombies are relentless. When I have to I am running every time.

If you come to the school there is a big dump truck here now. Came with a couple of survivors. One guy is authentic backwoods for sure. I don't like the way the other guy looks at me. But they seem tough. You have to be tough these days, tough or dead.

Anyway, head for the truck, loading bay is behind it. Knock on the door and one of us will answer.

New Auborn Protectorate

Residents of the Lewiston-Auborn area we have established a safe zone of Mill Street from 5th to Riverside. We control the bridges into this area and are working at safely expanding the protectorate. We have established an ad hoc government until things return to normal. We realize that this invasion has been hard on everyone. Please make your way to either the South Main Street or Broad Street bridges. Bring supplies, especially guns and ammunition. Our guards are ever vigilant so use caution when approaching the barricades. We welcome all who can help with the cause. We regret that we cannot accept any sick people at this time.

Anyone in the Lisbon Falls area?

I am looking for someone to check on my kids. They were with the ex and I haven't heard anything from there. Right now I am trapped at the Staples (Promenade Mall), but as soon as I get out I plan on going myself. Please if you could check on them message me and I'll get you their coordinates.

This is a picture of what we see out our window.

thanks,
Robert (manager)
